We at Yellow Door ABA offer 1:1 ABA services to children of all ages in the DFW area! We offer in-home, clinic based, telehealth, and school based ABA services.
What Skills are Targeted by ABA?
While ABA can work on many skills dependent on the specific needs of your child, our primary focus includes:
- Social Skills
- Communication Skills
- Play and Leisure Skills
- Self-Regulation Skills/ Maladaptive Behavior Reduction
- Adaptive Living Skills (self-help, toothbrushing, hand-washing, feeding, dressing, bathing)
- Food Selectivity/Feeding Programs
- Toilet Training
- Parent Training
- Any skill that would best help your child transition into the least restrictive setting!
What Does a Typical ABA Session Look Like?
This is our number one asked question, and it is so hard to answer, because it 100% depends on your child and their individual needs and goals. We believe that children learn best through play and natural interactions with their environment (natural environment training). We incorporate programming that involves the child using all of their senses and we encourage them to be active throughout the whole session! We believe that children should be able to to get their hands dirty, be active and use all of the senses to best learn and truly lock in the skills we are teaching. While learning how to work at a table is important for a child transitioning into a typical classroom, we limit table-time work to skills that cannot be done in other places (handwriting, cutting, painting, etc).
We are lucky that our owner and founder, owns We Rock the Spectrum Kids Gym Dallas, which is a sensory gym located right next to our clinic! Our children have the unique experience to take sensory breaks next door by ziplining, swinging, climbing on a climbing wall, jumping on a trampoline, or painting on the art wall! It provides our clients the unique experience to interact with children of all abilities that enter our gym on a daily basis.
Location of Services:
In-Home ABA
As a parent you are the most important element of your child’s development, and we know the importance of our children learning in the environment that they are most-home. We are currently taking clients within 30 miles of Dallas, Texas for in-home services. We love how involved families can be in services during in-home, and you are invited to participate in as many sessions that you are able to. Interested in doing part-time in-home and part-time clinic based ABA? We can definitely accomodate!
Clinic Based ABA
We are so excited to announce we have opened a new clinic at 11722 Marsh Lane in Dallas, Texas! Our vision of our clinic was to be a “fun school”, so we have setup an inviting space that is not your typical therapy clinic. Each room has a theme that will be rotated throughout the year, but we currently have a flower shop, kitchen/home room, camping room, and our sensory play room! We also have a circle time area in our main area and a mock doctors room setup so our littles can practice for doctor visits. Our sessions are child-led and your child will be able to rotate through the areas throughout the day and their programming will be practiced in whatever area they would like to play in at the time. We invite you in to tour our new clinic space!
Community/School Based ABA
We collaborate with many schools in the area to provide ABA services within the private school setting. We understand the importance of your child beginning to mainstream if that is the path for them! We will work on your child being able to independently engage in the school day while also providing training for the teachers and implementing programs that can be maintained as we fade ourselves out of the school setting. We always say our goal in the school setting is to work ourselves out of a job, so we focus on your child being able to independently cooperate in the school day. Many of our kiddos we see in school, we also see either in-home or in the clinic to practice the skills that they struggle with in the school. If your child is struggling in their current school setting, we are happy to assist and help provide the extra support for the teachers while also keeping your child in the setting!
Telehealth
Do you live in a rural area without access to ABA? Do you prefer telehealth services so your child can socially distance due to COVID-19? We can definitely help you and provide telehealth services! Reach out today and we can discuss details and the process!
